Greetings California Colleague,

California Collaborative on the Social & Emotional Foundations for Early LearningAs you may know California has been a partner with the National Center on the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL). The State Leadership Team of the California Collaborative on the Social-Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CA CSEFEL) would like to gather some information from sites and programs that are implementing the CSEFEL Teaching Pyramid approach in their early childhood settings.

We define implementation of the CSEFEL approach as programs having trained staff on all components of the Pyramid, providing coaching support for teaching staff, and having a leadership team that meets regularly to guide the implementation. For more information on the components, please visit the Teaching Pyramid website. We anticipate programs may be utilizing the approach and materials in various ways which are described as:

Levels of Implementation:

  • Entry CSEFEL Sites: Community sites who have some, but not all of the components and are interested in growing to the next level
  • Practicing CSEFEL Sites: Community sites who are committed to implementing all components of the Pyramid model
  • Partner CSEFEL Sites: Sites with the goal of implementing with fidelity to the framework, sending a team to a Leadership Summit, and collaborating with CA CSEFEL on data collection.
  • Mentor CSEFEL Sites: Mentors continue the Partner CSEFEL activities, have implemented with fidelity to the framework, and agree to reach out and mentor other programs

Please complete our survey!

In order for the CA CSEFEL Leadership Team to both track implementation of the Teaching Pyramid approach and to support those who are implementing, we are asking programs to complete a brief survey. The survey will take no more than 20 minutes. Your participation will help to guide future support of programs implementing CSEFEL. If you have questions about this survey, please contact Stephanie Castillo, WestEd Center for Child & Family Studies at scastil@wested.org.

Thanks for supporting the social and emotional development of children in California!
